Life

Dedicated to protecting life.

“Babies are blessings who sometimes arrive at just the wrong time.” - MCCL

All vulnerable people, unborn children, their mothers, the elderly, the physically and mentally disabled, face growing ever-growing threats to their lives and their liberties. Like tens of thousands of Minnesotans, I too, am committed to securing protections for innocent human life.

We have to set government in the direction to protect the right to life, to promote pro-life public policy because for too long, it has been in moving in reverse: Roe v. Wade, embryonic stem cell research, abortions that discriminate against baby’s sex or disability and taxpayer funded abortions, which only increased in the Federal Health Care Law because it includes abortion funding and health care rationing. This also now threatens seniors, the disabled, the defenseless.

Since 1995, by Minnesota Supreme Court decree, taxpayers must pay for abortions in our state. This infamous Doe v. Gomez decision has meant more than 50,000 unborn children have been killed by abortionists at a cost of $15.6 million taxpayer dollars. And the sad truth of all of this is that it has led more killing of the offspring of low-income and minority women through Planned Parenthood and its taxpayer-paid lobbying against life.

And pro-life lawmakers in support of a pro-life governor are absolutely crucial to passage of this protective legislation. More than once, Minnesota’s legislature passed pro-life bills only to see them vetoed by a pro-abortion governor. For nine years, Woman's Right to Know, for example, was repeatedly rejected by pro-abortion governors until Governor Tim Pawlenty signed it into law in 2003.

Commitment to life means re-instituting Minnesota’s 1974 taxpayer funding ban as well as banning embryonic stem cell research, human cloning, and, saline and sex-selected abortion. Instead, we can advance protective legislation including signing the 24-hour waiting period, encouraging adult stem cell research, support the Positive Alternatives Act for mothers and the Unborn Child Pain Prevention Act. We can stand up to the Federal Government against mandated health care.

So, when it comes to life, I’m all for it.
